NSW Farmers: Get Up to $1,500 Back: The NSW Sheep & Goat eID Rebate is Back on Stick Readers!

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) has announced a new Sheep and Goat eID Equipment Rebate Program for sheep and goat producers who didn't take part in the previous 2023–2024 scheme. This program is specifically designed for producers and agents who missed out on the previous scheme or have recently stepped into the eID space to purchase a handheld eID stick or wand reader.

The Big News: You may already be eligible for a previous purchase! While applications don't open until 2 March 2026, the program covers eligible handheld readers purchased as far back as 3 October 2023. Eligible applicants can claim 50% of the purchase cost, up to $1,500, with rebates expected to be available from early March 2026.

Key Details of the Program:

  • The Benefit: Claim 50% of the cost of a handheld eID stick reader (up to $1,500 per applicant).
  • Eligibility Window: Readers purchased between 3 October 2023 and 31 August 2026 are eligible.
  • Application Window: Opens 2 March 2026 and closes 31 August 2026 (or until funds run out).

How to Prepare:

Since this is a "first-in, best-dressed" program with a $2 million cap, we expect funds to be allocated quickly.

  2. Research your gear: If you haven’t bought yet, now is the time to choose your device so you can purchase and be ready to claim on day one.
